About Jazz Maroon

Grades 10-12

Jazz Maroon is a learning and performing group with an emphasis on basic musicianship including improvisation, technique, musical style, intonation concepts, balance and blend in the jazz idiom through performance of the appropriate literature. Members of the band gain an opportunity to perform in festivals and concerts many times throughout the school year. This class is a year-long class, and is for students grades 10-12.

All HHS saxophone, trombone, trumpet, and rhythm section (guitar, bass, piano, and drum set) musicians who are looking to develop their musical knowledge, understanding, and skills are welcome to join the band.

Placement auditions are needed for Jazz Maroon: to arrange for an audition, you should first sign up for Concert Band, and then contact the band directors to schedule an audition for one of the sequential concert ensembles.
