Early Season Update

The Marching Huskies have been making great progress on their 2021 production Moments of Joy! The band just finished learning the drill for the 2nd Movement, which is based on a beautiful piece called Into the Joy of Spring by James Swearingen. If it sounds familiar, it may be because the HHS Wind Ensemble performed it in concert last year. Give it a listen! (The excerpt featured in Moments of Joy! is from 2:00-3:33)

As the first movement tells the story of young children enjoying a day in the snow, the 2nd Movement (or Ballad) will focus on the forming of new friendships and budding romances between young people as they start to navigate school on their own.

Be sure to check the calendar to stay informed of upcoming events for your students, including a DCI watch party in the band room and a car wash fundraiser! And for parents, be sure to look out for our next booster meeting. We hope to see you there!

Rookie Camp 2021

Spring 2021 Awards Celebration

The Hamilton High School Bands Awards Celebration is TONIGHT! We can’t wait to see you all and celebrate the wonderful achievements of the past year, in all areas of the program.

A few important details:

The Awards Celebration will be held tonight (5/13/2021) at the Bella Rose Estate at: 1380 S Price Rd, Chandler, AZ 85286. The event begins at 7:00 PM.

Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the door. All tickets must be purchased in advance, in the band room from Mr. Brown. Ticket price per head is $10.

Masks are required. Thank you for making this a safe and compliant event.

Due to the nature of the pandemic, as well as our hosts The Bella Rose Estate, the Awards Celebration will not be a catered event. There will be no space for any food to be served, nor plates/dinnerware to eat it. Please do not bring any food tonight. You will end up leaving with it, or the estate staff will dispose of it. Thank you for your understanding.

We hope you are looking forward to a wonderful night! See you all there.

Spring Pops Concert Info – May 4th

Jazz II & Concert Band parents (2 per student only) – the auditorium opens at 5:30 pm.  The concert will begin at 6:00 pm and the doors will shut so our ushers can perform.  We are limited on the number of persons in the audience.  Only 2 tickets per student will come home on Monday.

Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band & Jazz I parents (2 per student only) – the auditorium opens when the first audience has left.  The concert should begin at 7:00 pm and the doors will shut so the ushers can perform.  We are limited on the number of persons in the audience.  Only 2 tickets per student will come home on Monday.  We recommend that this audience does not arrive until 6:40 pm so the crowd does not gather in the hallway outside the gym.

Students performing should be in dress blacks.  We will give each performing group a call time so they have time to warm up in the band room before coming to the stage.  We will try to podcast or Facebook live cast the concert.

2021 Winter Season Wrap-Up!

And that’s a wrap folks! Our 2021 winter activities season has come to an end, with both the Indoor Percussion Ensemble and the Winter Guard giving their awesome final performances at WGAZ events these past two weekends. All of the students involved in these groups have worked hard and shown their dedication to their fellow members all season long, persevering through the challenges brought by COVID-19. With percussion and guard auditions coming up in a few weeks, the members have some afternoons off to relax before getting started on our next marching band season.

Bravo, Huskies!

Winter Drumline Updates

Our first show is Saturday, March 6. We will perform at 1:00pm, at San Tan Junior HS. A full schedule will be out soon, but count on reporting to HHS fairly early in the morning to warmup, maybe rehearse, load up instruments, dress out, and hop on the bus.

We will be able to pre-purchase tickets for this, but only 2 per student, and they are only for OUR performance. Details are not available yet, but we will let you know as soon as WE know more.

Also, we finally got a little content in the site about Winter Drumline. Go to Ensembles > Marching Ensembles and open the 3rd accordion box.
